Transitional Shelters SETU Bandhan (TSSB): A Bridge to Safety and Stability

For children living on the streets or in high-risk environments, LEEDO’s Transitional ShelterSETU Bandhan provide a temporary yet safe and nurturing environment. Designed as the first step in the rehabilitation journey, these shelters ensure that children receive immediate protection, care, and guidance while pathways for education, reintegration, or long-term shelter are identified.

LEEDO currently operates two transitional shelters in Dhaka: Kamalapur and Kadamtali, strategically located to reach children in critical urban areas. These shelters act as a bridge between survival on the streets and a secure, hopeful future, aligning with LEEDO’s mission to restore dignity and provide opportunity.

  • 24/7 shelter with secure, gender-segregated spaces.
  • Clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities to promote health and wellbeing.
  • Daily nutritious meals tailored to children’s dietary needs.
  • Supervision and care by trained staff to ensure safety, stability, and routine.

  • Access to basic literacy and numeracy education, aligned with informal education modules.
  • Opportunities for vocational training, including tailoring, carpentry, handicrafts, and beautification.
  • ICT training and life skills programs to support self-reliance and future employment.
  1. Psychosocial Support and Healing
  • Counseling and psychosocial care help children recover from trauma and build confidence.
  • Recreational, arts, and sports activities promote emotional wellbeing, teamwork, and creativity.
  1. Reintegration and Referral
  • Family tracing and assessments for safe reintegration with biological families where possible.
  • Referral to LEEDO Peace Home or other long-term facilities if family reintegration is not feasible.
  • Preparation for community reintegration, education, or independent living, ensuring continuity of care.
